Let’s break it down even further:
“Nano” is a measurement prefix that means one billionth. So when you hear “nano” think small. In this instance, when we are talking about nanoemulsion and CBD, think small particles.
“Emulsion” is a mixture of two liquids that can’t blend. To create an emulsion, minute droplets of one liquid get dispersed within another liquid so that they stay together as one.
Nanoemulsion— evenly distributed microscopic, insoluble particles within a mixture of water oil and other substances (small particles that can’t mix), that reduce surface tension and stabilize the mixture.
Oral CBD oil tinctures are the most common delivery method/formulation of CBD on the market. Unfortunately, our bodies don’t metabolize CBD oil very well. Less than 20% of normal CBD oil ingested winds up in the bloodstream. Enter nanoemulsion technology.
Using nanoemulsion to make CBD water-soluble has many advantages (see them below) but the biggest ones are improved potency and bioavailability. Nanoemulsion has been studied and has been shown to take CBD bioavailability from the lowly 20 percent all the way up to 94 percent!
According to the National Institutes of health, all nanoemulsion formulation may be considered as effective, safe as normal delivery systems, with increased bioavailability.
